Not in a typical sense. I was lucky enough to have parents help cover much of the cost of my schooling. I'm acutely aware many are not so lucky. There is a strong feeling of guilt both about how I much I owe my parents, and how rare (and fortunate) my situation is.
I work part-time for a community college and live at home. While I haven't incurred much debt this way, I'm limited in what I can afford (housing) and use for my work (materials).
I've increasingly relied on non-art materials in my painting. These include drywall compound, caulk, toner, and other construction/officey supplies that I get free from work or are otherwise much cheaper than typical high quality paints. This has had some positive effects, and helped shaped my work but can also be limiting.
