How did you get into debt?
I overspent on professional camera gear and computer equipment as well as unfunded travel for film shoots. In order to keep abreast of the runaway digital media train, I must upgrade software, hardware and camera equipment every 2-3 years to remain current in the classroom and in my own practice.

How does your economic reality effect your art?
I must teach overload courses in order to make ends meet including minimum monthly payments on credit cards. This takes me away from the creative reverie in which I often indulged prior to my financial burden. I cannot spend the time that I need to develop video art concepts.
Would your work look different if you weren't in debt?:
My sense is that my art would be less layered and more direct. I have drifted too far from the 'less is more' road that was paved by my art school and early, mid career experiences in gallery and museum settings. The demands of teaching overload courses to make ends meet takes an untold toll.
