Portrait of Ed Rendell, chalk pastel, ink, and graphite. 4"x4"
How did you get into debt?
Undergrad and grad school for art, and by making large public art (small budgets big expectations from commissioners.... "but the exposure is payment, right?")
Here Series, paint on paper targets, various ammunition and weapons, 28"x32"
How does your economic reality effect your art?
I have to have a physically demanding service industry job to pay for my art career, which leaves little time and energy to create. I often feel ridiculous when people demean me at work. I wish they knew I have a photographic memory and I make portraits that make people cry.
Bill and Hillary thinking Up, pastel and graphite, 24"x30"
Would your work look different if you weren't in debt?:
Detail of Judith, oil pastel, silverpoint, charcoal 10'x4'
