How did you get into debt?

How does your economic reality effect your art?
HUGELY. My economic reality prohibits my art practice from fully realizing its artistic potential. I try to be a positive person and have my limitations work for me but lately it's been really tough. I teach several classes, barely staying above water. I was accepted to a residency, but because of money/financial obligations and my adjunct teaching schedule (couldn't get the time off), I was not able to attend. I feel like I spend more time trying to figure out ways to survive than making art and I hate that. My energy needs to go to my art practice but I'm in that place where it's tough to see my way out. I was offered a show in a musuem this coming summer, but instead of happiness I felt a sense of dread, "How am I going to mount a show on my income???"
